Overview of our Graduate Programme
Under the auspices of our Learning and Development team, the Graduate Development Programme is a vital component of our talent management process, helping us to identify and develop a pool of talent individual with high-potential individuals to take on the responsibility of leading our Business into the future.
This programme is targeting graduates with degree in commerce, finance, banking, science, engineering, technology and property studies.
Our graduate programme is designed to give a solid foundation and understanding of the functions within the bank. This will be achieved by rotations through assigned functions; Graduates will get to know our particular functions better as they experience rotations within those functions.
Graduates will rotate in the following functions:
Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB)
CIB will offer graduates opportunities in four different channels. On-the-job experience in these areas entails functional rotations over a 12 month period. The objective is to give competencies and insights into the CIB operations, supported by formal training and progress checks, towards becoming professional Bankers.
Areas of rotation within Corporate Investment Banking;
- Investment Banking
- Global Markets
- Transactional Products and Services
- Client Coverage
- CIB Credit
Areas of rotation within Personal and Business Banking (PBB) and Enabling Functions
- Information Technology
- Business Banking
- PBB Credit
- Risk and Compliance
Over a period of 1 year, multiple role rotations will be completed to give to the graduate to broaden their commercial experience including customer engagement.
Graduate Contract and Terms
Graduates will be hired on a permanent basis from the onset. They will be recruited in line with Standard Bank’s strategic workforce plan.
It is a condition of this Programme that the candidate complete and be deemed competent on the Gradate Role Based Curriculum during their first rotations of the programme in order to continue with the remainder of the programme. Graduates are further obligated to meet all the other requirements of the Graduate Programme as agreed.

Graduates from a wide range of degree disciplines, these include degree in commerce, finance, banking, science, engineering, technology and property studies.

Standard Bank’s bursary scheme targets matriculants who have obtained excellent or high academic achievement and who are in need of financial assistance to pursue their study to realize their dream in the following fields:
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce
- Property studies
To be eligible for a bursary an applicant should:
- Be a Namibian Citizen
- Have an excellent academic history supported by a report from the school last attended
- Provide proof of University admission and comply with the university entry requirements for the proposed field of study
- Current Grade 12 learners or learners who have successfully completed Grade 12
Bursary awarded to those in Grade 12 is dependent on final examination results however, bursaryapplications can be submitted with latest results.
